Paintings

If you can draw a simple shape then you can create this painting.
  • 2 large Canvas, stretched and mounted on a wood frame. (craft stores) Any size larger the better
  • 4 Latex paints, colors of your room and/or adjacent rooms + trim color
  • Paint brushes for each color
  • drywall joint compound (hardware store), optional
  • paint tarp, hardware store

Lay out your canvas on a painting tarp. Taking a crumpled up paper towel, stamp drywal compound all over the canvas. Allow to dry completely.

When time to paint, push the canvas so that they but up against eachother. You will paint your design so that it crosses the border from one canvas to the other.

Using the 3 paint colors of your room and a large brush begin painting square rectangle and L-shaped blocks. Take care not have to blocks of the same color touching. Roll your shapes over the edges of the cavas, leave no canvas unpainted.

Using a dry brush, lightly blend the colors together. On the border of each box, brush back and for on the colors quickly so that you get a rough feathered look. This is to soften the edges in the painting.

Taking a paint stick, lightly drizzle the trim color (if the lightest color) over the two canvas until you like the look of them. Allow to dry and then hang the paintings so that they are ~ 2 inches apart.

This project is a perfect way to join colors in rooms that are adjacent to eachother.
